Catan

Board game that has clever trading, strategy, tactical skill, and some luck.

I love this board game. It's strategy and some luck when playing this game. Each time you play you can create a new board, changing the dynamics of the game.

Catan's Website describes this game very well. Picture yourself in the era of discoveries: after a long voyage of great deprivation, your ships have finally reached the coast of an uncharted island. Its name shall be Catan! But you are not the only discoverer. Other fearless seafarers have also landed on the shores of Catan: the race to settle the island has begun!

You will want to start with the 3-4 player Base game pictured above. You can get the expansion pack to go with it for 5-6 players.

We play with 2 players and its still fun. It's definitely more of a challenge the more people you have playing.

The goal of the game is to collect resources (cards) to be able to build roads and houses.

There are many different themed expansion packs you can get to go with the base game. But you need to start by getting the base game. You will need those to go with the expansion packs. The base game by itself is a lot of fun and does not need the themed expansion packs to make it anymore fun.
